DEUS Synod 2020
The Diocese of the Eastern United States, Anglican Province of America Synod for 2020 will be held the week of August 3-7, 2020, in Mills River, NC sponsored by All Saints Anglican Church. You can acquire information on this event and others on the APA website of

APA Approves ACA Inter-communion Offer 

The Provincial Synod of the Anglican Province of America (APA) of 2011 unanimously passed a resolution embracing an inter-communion agreement with the Anglican Church in America (ACA). The General Synod of the Anglican Church in America will vote on this resolution at its meeting in September. The agreement has already been approved by each of the four domestic ACA dioceses.

 In a statement issued by the President of the House of Bishops of the ACA, the Rt. Rev. Brian Marsh said "The APA action reaffirmed what we have known in both bodies for a number of years, that in Christ and in each other, we are one Church, one body. I applaud Bishop Grundoff and the Synod of the APA for their actions to to which I am sure we will respond in kind in September."

Signatories of Inter-Communion Agreement between ACA and APA

On September 22, 2011, the Anglican Church in America(ACA), meeting in its Eighth General Synod at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Belleview, Illinois, unanimously endorsed a resolution for inter-communion with the Anglican Province of America(APA). The APA also unanimously endorsed this agreement at its Provincial Synod on July 15, 2011. The Inter-Communion Agreement was signed by the ACA and APA Ordinaries on the Altar during the ACA Synod Pontifical Solemn High Mass.

Mission: To bring people to Jesus Christ and to incoporate them in to the community of faith through our historic Anglican tradition


We invite and welcome all visitors and invite you to stay and visit with us after the services.  There will be a coffee and felllowship hour in the narthex after the 10:00 a.m. service on Sundays, for those who would like to stay and visit.  Please sign our guest register in the narthex with your name and address, so we can acknowledge your visit. 

Christmas Eve Service each year
There will be a Family Christmas Eve service each year on December 24 at 4:30 p.m. 

No Gloria is said during Advent, Pre-Lent and Lent. Nunc dimittis is used instead during these periods.

Church of the Redeemer is located at the intersection of Beach City Rd and Mathews Dr. From Bluffton take Hwy 278 across the bridge to the traffic light of Beach City Rd, make a left hand turn and stay in the right hand lane and make a right on Mathews Dr, then a left in the Mathews Pointe North Complex. 

Ember Days
The Ember Days gives us all a chance to pray for the church and clergy on these days.  

Visit by Suffragan Bishop
The Right Reverend Chandler (Chad) Holder Jones, SSC, Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of the Eastern United States, Anglican Province of America visited Anglican Church of the Redeemer on August 9-10, 2014 and was the celebrant at the 10:00 A.M. Mass. This visit also involved going on a fishing trip. .

1928 Book of Common Prayer
Available now! APA Book of Common Prayer. DEUS Publications and the Diocese of the Eastern United States are pleased to bring you their very first offering: a personal edition of the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.  The Prayer Book is being offered at $25.00 for each book and this includes shipping.  Pew Addition Prayer Books are also being offered for $17.00. Service Times
The service times at Anglican Church of the Redeemer located at 1 Mathews Dr, Suite 101, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, effective Nov 1, 2009, is being changed to one service at 10:00 A.M. with Traditional Holy Communion Service on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month and Morning Prayer Service with Holy Communion on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month.  The Decalogue on the 1st Sunday of each month.

Blessing of the Animals
Blessing of the Animals in honor of the Feast Day of St. Francis, Oct 4, 2020 will be held  at Anglican Church of the Redeemer from 4:00 to 5:00 PM on Oct 3, 2020.

Blessing of the animals will be held at Anglican Church of the Redeemer from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 PM on the grounds of Church of the Redeemer on Oct 3, 2020. All animals will receive a blessing certificate and a medal of St. Francis to commemorate the day. All denominations are welcomed. For more information on the Blessing of the Animals call Fr. A new calendar page has been developed for Church of the Redeemer's website. You can link to Traditional Ordo Calendars for Morning or Evening Prayer, as well as Church of the Redeemer's very own events calendar to see when services and events are taking place.

National Day of Prayer
National Day of Prayer next year is on May 7, 2020.  The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.  So join everyone on this day to pray that God will continue to shed His grace upon us and use this time to pray four our Government, Military, Churches and Families.  Pray for all those on our prayer list and all other who need our special touch and tender care.  On Ember days pray for all our clergy, seminarians and others who are preparing for the ministry.   

New Suffragan Bishop
At the 42nd Annual Synod of the Diocese of the Eastern United States, Anglican Province of America, in Orlando, FL, this past June, The Rev. Canon Chandler H. Jones, SSC, was selected by both the House of Laity and the House of Clergy as the new Suffragan Bishop for the Diocese of the Eastern United States to replace retiring Suffragan Bishop Peter Brewer. Fr. Jones was consecrated as Suffragan Bishop on Sept 18, at 11:00 AM at St. Albans Cathedral, 3348 W. State Road 426, Oviedo, FL 32765. Bishop Jones visited Church of the Redeemer on Nov 17-18, .2012. At our last Synod on July 15-19,2019 at St. Albans, Oveido, FL, Rt. Rev Chandler was elected as Bishop Coadjutor.

Visit by Presiding Bishop
The Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Province of America, the Most Rev. Walter Grundorf and his wife, Mary made an Episcopal visit to Anglican Church of the Redeemer on May 25-26, 2013. Bishop Grundorf celebrated Mass with refreshments that followed. Everyone had a delightful time speaking with Bishop Grundorf and his wife.

Society of St. Anthony
Fr. Michael L. Ward of St. Mark's Church in Vero Beach, FL, established a General Rule of the Society of St. Anthony, which was provisionally constituted by the Most Rev'd Walter H. Grundorf, Anglican Province of America on December 4, 2008.  The society is open to all clergy and laity. Fr. Ward can be reached at 772-563-0450.

Holy Week Services
Ash Wednesday Service on Feb 17, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. Passion Sunday on March 21, 2021. Palm Sunday on March 28, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday before Easter Service on March 31, 2020 at 4:00PM; Maundy Thursday Service and stripping of the altar on April 1, 2021 at 4:00PM.  Good Friday Service on April 2, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with Meditations of the Cross from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.; Holy Saturday Service on April 3, 2021 at 4:00PM  and Easter services on April 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

Mother's Day
May 10, 2020 is Mother's Day.  The modern Mother's Day holiday was created by Anna Jarvis as a day for each family to honor its mother and its now celebrated on various days in many places around the world.  It complements Father's Day, the celebration honoring fathers.  This is a day where you see sports figures on TV say, "I love you Mom". This is enough to brings tears to anyone's eyes. Father's Day is June 17, 2018.

The Exhortations
Exhortations is said three times a year in the Mass and they are First Sunday in Advent, First Sunday in Lent and Trinity Sunday. The Decalogue is said on the 1st Sunday of each month.
